Dr. Gao received his PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from UBC in 2017. He received his BSc in Biological Sciences from Fudan University (Shanghai, China) in 2010. His PhD research focuses on the fundamental mechanisms underlying RPE cell death in late stage of AMD and novel ways of regulation. He has keen interests in the following research topics: (1) the role of inflammasome activation in the AMD eyes; (2) the interactions between inflammation and cell death pathways in AMD; (3) novel experimental agents to regulate inflammasome activation in AMD.
